About Us

Founding
Fred and Chris Credeur established Credeur's Sports House, Inc., in 1978. Its purpose was to supply the Opelousas and Acadiana area with quality sports products as a full line sporting goods and team dealer. The primary function was the resale at retail and team of athletic products to the Acadiana area.

The advent of the fitness boom to include aerobics, running, tennis, etc. brought growth and new direction to the old concept of the sporting goods store as a place, not only too outfit a team, but to provide products and services which would improve one's own personal health and fitness as well as recreational enjoyment.

Historical Timeline (1980-present)
In the year of 1980 Credeur’s saw the establishment of an awards business that was separately located and operated. In 1983, with Credeur's move after a rapid 4 years of growth, Credeur’s purchased a competitor’s inventory. After liquidating that inventory, Credeur’s then converted the facility to reflect a more customer friendly and service oriented business. In conjunction with the retail business, the awards business and the retail operation were then combined into one convenient location.

In 1984 Credeur’s added screen-printing as another service to its already growing capabilities in customer service and quality. With this addition Credeur’s now became the premier sporting goods store and athletic retailer in St. Landry parish. With 4,000 square feet for retail and production space, Credeur’s also became the largest sporting goods store in the St. Landry parish area.

From 1985 to 1995 Credeur’s continued to grow despite the economic instability of the fluctuating oil economy. In the past 21 years the business has evolved into St. Landry Parish's and one of Acadiana’s oldest privately held complete sporting goods dealer with the relatively new addition of the promotional products businesses.

The 90's brought new ideas and concepts as well as technology and machinery. The advent of the desktop computer revolutionized the way business was being conducted from the point of sale, creation of the product and through the point of delivery. Credeur's was right in step to reflect this new method of doing business with the purchase of their first of several computerized in-house embroidery machine.
With the entrance of Credeur’s in the field of embroidery, it was able to offer all of the services under one roof. 1995 brought the evolution of the promotional product business and added a new facet to the Credeur's story of development. In 1996 Credeur’s became a promotional products distributor as an evolution of its ever changing business complexion. Promotional products, commonly called advertising specialties, uses unique products with the customer’s logo and message to promote image and affect purchasing behavior. The promotional products line of business is now Credeur’s largest segment of business.

Expansion and Acquisition
Further consolidation of Credeur's assets came when the present physical retail space became available for sale. In partnership, Credeur’s purchased the center and after remodeling now houses the current business. Recently Credeur’s has begun evaluating setting up a regional sales office in Houston, TX to better serve current customers and develop new business.
